Learn How to See the Future

Have you seen the movie Next, starring Nicholas Cage? The plot is pretty simple. He can see two minutes of his future and react depending on what he see. He falls for a random hottie (Jessica Biel), whom he can see the future for as well. The government and some French people who have a nuclear bomb seek after him and he must save Los Angeles. Sounds ridiculous judging by the description but it’s actually a descent movie and if you haven’t seen it, you should check it out.

But the reason I bring this up is this. We all have the ability to see two minutes in the future. Think about it. Whenever we reach a point in our lives where we have to make a decision, our minds automatically go through the different scenarios and based on what you “see,” you make that decision. It could be from deciding what to wear to what TV you want to buy. For me, it happens a lot when I think about talking to people.

If I come across a group of people, especially if there is an attractive woman in the group, my mind plays out different scenarios of positive and negative nature. In the years past, it used to be more negative than positive. And if you watch Next, there is a scene where he tries to talk to Jessica Biel and he plays out all of these scenarios of what he would say and what she would say and all of the interactions go sour.

I see that as a huge problem. We see a situation and automatically think negative thoughts. Can’t you remember countless times when you thought the worst and the best happened? For me, it’s been too many times.

What you need to do is desensitize yourself to the negative thoughts and see two minutes ahead in a positive way. For example, if you’re nervous about talking to a woman, see her saying hi back to you, or having a witty comment, or hell, grabbing you and giving you a big fat kiss. You never know, it CAN happen. After a while, you will notice that your positive thoughts do actually happen and you too, like Chris Johnson, can look into the future and decide how it’s going down.
